AncestralFire is a subscription product built by Event Horizon Partners. These terms govern your use of the service at app.ancestral-fire.com.

Plain-English summary: Pay monthly. Cancel any time. Your data is yours. We work for you.

The service

AncestralFire provides an AI-powered genealogy research companion. You provide a family tree and questions; we provide research, stories, and historical context powered by public records, Wikipedia, Wikidata, FamilySearch, and large language models.

Subscription and billing

AncestralFire is a subscription service billed monthly or in a 6-month block.
You can cancel at any time from your account settings — no retention quiz, no waiting period.
Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.
No refunds for partial periods. If this is a problem, contact us and we'll talk.
Payment is processed by Stripe. Card details are never stored on AncestralFire systems.

Your data

Your family tree data, conversations, and memories belong to you.
We never sell your data, train AI models on it, or share it with other subscribers.
You can export all your data at any time from Settings.
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings.

Acceptable use

Use AncestralFire for personal genealogy research.
Don't attempt to access other subscribers' data or circumvent security controls.
Don't use the service to generate content that is illegal, harmful, or deceptive.
Don't reverse-engineer or resell the service.

The AI companion

The AI companion is a research assistant, not a human. It may make mistakes — genealogical records are incomplete and the AI is not infallible. Always verify significant findings against primary sources. AncestralFire is not responsible for decisions made based on AI-generated genealogical information.

Service availability

We aim for high availability but don't guarantee it. We may perform maintenance, deploy updates, or experience outages. We'll communicate planned downtime where practical.

Limitation of liability

AncestralFire is provided "as is." Event Horizon Partners is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Our liability is limited to the amount you paid in the 3 months preceding any claim.

Changes to these terms

We'll post changes at ancestral-fire.com/terms and email you at least 30 days before material changes take effect.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
